AEG AG5104WDB Rapido Wet and Dry Handheld Cordless Cleaner : Amazing if you understand the disclaimer

Stylish, lightweight but underpowered. . I have owned a black & decker ‘pivot dustbuster’ hand-held vacuum (http://www. Uk/black-decker-lithium-compact-titanium/dp/b00iuk800o/ref=sr_1_2?s=kitchen&ie=utf8&qid=1414409561&sr=1-2&keywords=black+and+decker+pivot) for some time which i use in many small, restricted areas that my beloved dyson upright cannot reach. The prime difference between this aeg unit and my b&d unit is the weight; the aeg is considerably lighter, almost flimsy construction compared to the ruggedness of the b&d. The weight loss is most probably due to the smaller capacity 4. 8v battery compared to the 18v capacity in the b&d. 8v battery takes considerably longer to re-charge from empty in comparison.

Essential purchase for the home and car. Many of us will have had first-hand experience with a black & decker ‘dustbuster’ (they enjoyed a lot of publicity some twenty years ago), but in more recent years the product has suffered a reduction in power and poorer battery life. You may not realise what you’re missing out on. This product includes everything you need and nothing that you don’t, which are the cleaner itself with extension tubes, a charging dock and an a/c power cable. There’s a good reason to trust aeg; they typify german efficiency. If the rapido was any more logical, it would beat a computer at chess. The cleaner is constructed from a flawlessly strong-but-light plastic, which i have only seen matched by my bosch lawnmower. Depending on your circumstances, you have a choice of two extension tubes to fit onto the nozzle of the cleaner – one which simply adds a few inches of length, and the other offers some additional reinforcement to the edges of the mount. When not in use the cleaner slots onto the charging dock, and that itself can be screwed or fixed onto a wall. This makes it ideal for garages or utility rooms that don’t comply with the usual eye-sores. From here, the dock can even be rotated on a fixed axis, making it easier to take the cleaner on or off. 8v motor does an acceptable job for everyday tasks, such as cleaning the car, hard-to-reach areas at home like the edges of carpets, and more delicate areas like the top of a cabinet.

A great little machine for small jobs and spills. I know that this product has received mixed reviews so far but i personally really like this little machine. It is lightweight and easy to manoeuvre, and it actually has a surprising amount of power for its size. It comes with two attachments, a nozzle to get into places like your kitchen drawers and a rubber part to suck up water, for normal use you don’t use either attachment. Unlike other reviewers i have not had an issue with battery life, but then i haven’t been using it for durations of longer than 20 minutes or so. It charges on a stand which can be angled to suit your needs. When the device is low a red warning light will supposedly flash, i haven’t seen this so far as mine is happily plodding along. It is also really easy to clean, just detach the front part, twist to remove the filter, and pull out the filter holder inside. It is made of a strong blue plastic which is transparent so that you can see when it’s full. The only negative that i have about it is that after sucking up water it leaks if you don’t hold the machine upright, i would have thought you would be able to move about freely without it leaking but that does not seem to be case, with my one at least. Here are the specifications for the AEG AG5104WDB Rapido Wet and Dry Handheld Cordless Cleaner:

  • Wet and dry handheld cordless rechargeable cleaner
  • Soft Surface wheels for manoeuvrability
  • Easy to clean filter
  • Integrated telescopic crevice nozzle
  • 10 minutes running time

Excellent cleaner could do with a better charger. This is a very useful cleaner to have around the house. I haven’t had a handheld cleaner since my venerable hoover packed up ten years ago and i must admit i had forgot how handy these cleaners are. The cleaner takes around 12 hours to charge when first out of the box and can last about twenty mins of continuous use, the long charge time though is due to the frankly pathetic 200ma charger which due to the low amount of power delivered to the device means it takes a long time to charge from flat. The wall mounting bracket was easy to mount to the wall of my garage and keeps it out of the way quite nicely. For cleaning though this is fantastic and can handle all minor jobs around the house and is also good for cleaning out the car as well. This does pick up liquid as well as the normal dust and solid objects you would expect and can also pick alot of liquid out of carpets if not left to soak too long. I have recently been doing some work around the house and it has managed to pick up plaster dust and mixed plaster off the carpet before it had chance to set or stain. The wheels on this are a great idea as well as they help the cleaner on hard surfaces so it can keep its lip down and move quickly covering all spills. If it wasn’t for the small charger then this would be an easy 5* review.

Easy to use, but quite weak. As dustbuster clones go, this seems fine, and does a decent job without coming top of the class. The air flow that it pulls in is a little bit underwhelming. Obviously from a handheld device it was never going to produce a super-powered vacuum suction, but considering that it’s moderately heavy (presumably mostly from the battery and the motor), the power that it sucks with is just slightly on the disappointing side. It will do crumbs and bits of food easily enough, but it won’t get everything that a normal vacuum cleaner gets. In particular i didn’t get great results when trying it on water. The product description and even the name makes a big deal of it being ‘wet and dry’, but pouring water on the floor and then trying to use this aeg rapido to pick at least some of it up was an almost complete washout. I ended up having to go and fetch a mop. It’s very simple, which is a plus.

Reviews from purchasers :

  • Good overall performer as long as expectations are kept realistic!
  • An adequate little cleaner
  • Powerful and effective, yet could do with a bigger battery

Impressive cleaning peiduct. This is a very effective small vacuum cleaner. It is surprisingly powerful and really handy for any jobs where you don’t have power such as inside the car. It is great for cleaning the stairs and really gets into books and crannies. Very impressive for the price.

Design and usage issues; may not offer best value. This rapido is a lightweight hand-held vacuum cleaner with some almost exclusive features, and a higher price than many of its competitors. It has a pair of small guide wheels at the front to prevent scratching hard or polished surfaces and to aid steering (a feature shared with some other aeg rapido hand-helds) and is also wet/dry, a feature shared with another rapido but no other hand-held. It is intended for small spillages of fluids and dry materials in the kitchen or elsewhere. It can also be used as an addition to a full-size cleaner where the scale of the task does not really justify using anything larger. The aeg ag5104wdb rapido wet and dry handheld cordless cleaner, 4. 8v, deep blue is sold in just one colour. It has one of the lowest (if not the absolute lowest) battery voltage of any similar product from any brand. Generally, and with all other factors excluded, a higher battery voltage usually provides greater power and suction which was one reason why an 18v cleaner of one brand was recently purchased to replace a much older and lower voltage product from another. There was in consequence some concern about this and whether its battery and motor together provided sufficient power.

Powerful and effective, yet could do with a bigger battery. This light, rechargeable hoover is surprisingly powerful, and has been really useful in a couple of scenarios1) when you’ve spilt something and you can’t be bothered to unpack the proper hoover2) a very quick way to clean the kitchen work surfaces3) keeping on top of the christmas tree pine needles without ruining the hoover4) hoovering up the trail of destruction left by our twinsthis is a really useful product, let down only slightly (as so much is these days) by a battery that doesn’t last more than 8-10 minutes of use. We found that after a few uses that it would also run down to nothing after 4 or 5 30 second bursts over 3 or 4 days. Charging doesn’t take too long, so you just need to remember to keep it topped up, but i reckon it won’t take too many situations where you reach for your trusty rapido only to find it on 0 juice for you to lose faith and go back to swearing and unpacking the proper hoover. I know a bigger battery would mean a heavier product, but i think the increased capacity would outweigh any negatives. In summary – great, effective product let down slightly by small battery.

This works well enough for spills, but using to hoover up dry, or on carpet, it’s not as good as i’d hoped or would expect for the price. The information i read also says it’s quiet. . Which i wouldn’t agree with. It’s actually got a really irritating pitch to it (but that could just be me). I had one before, a different make, and it broke, and i’ve never been able to find a good replacement (doesn’t help that i can’t recall the make, so am searching blindly). This is quite cheap and plastic-y for the money. I’m glad i didn’t buy this as a gift for someone, as i don’t think it reflects the price at all.

My sea-companion – able seaman aeg vacuum. This really is what the doctor ordered – or at least the ship’s surgeon. The little vacuum cleaner has a permanent berth on my small (5 berth) sailing cruiser. It’s great for a quick vacuum of the carpet over the bilges – and really handy for cleaning the filter of our dehumidifier. No room for a bigger one – but this is just right. It recharges very quickly, and is powerful enough to do the job. And copes with the odd cupful of water in the bilges too.

Ok i guess – nothing more exciting than that really. This is not the most powerful vacuum cleaner in the world, but that isn’t the point. It is intended for everyday small jobs – breadcrumbs from breakfast, zipping round the edge of the cat litter tray, picking up crumbs and so on. It comes complete with a wall mountable charger, and it can be left charging, it seems, permanently as it switches itself off when it is fully charged. Run time isn’t fantastic, but it does what it does reasonably well. It has a rubber spout for picking up liquid, which it does in an ok fashion, and a longer spout for getting down inside chairs and such like. It’s good for having a quick clean up round the car after being out for the day. Odd bits of crisp, sandwich crumbs, all ok. I do like the little wheels on the bottom front edge, as it means i can scoop up all the breakfast detritus without scratching the table top. It’s hard to get too excited about it because i already have a b&d dust-buster which seems to perform about the same, but costs about 30% less than this offering from aeg.

Amazing if you understand the disclaimer. So long as you get the appliance with its intended purpose it is fantastic. On initial inspection, a family member pointed out to me that the suction wasn’t very good on the device. But as i later pointed out, it is not the intention for this device to serve as your main vacuum device. The intended purpose is to pick up stubborn ‘little bits’ and get into corners that are difficult to reach with a large vacuum device. For these tasks, the device is amazing. At the moment, we typically sweep the floor then use this device to suck up any remaining bits we can’t sweep into the bin. It is also great to use on table services for little crumbs, in addition to the cracks that are hard to get to on furniture. The major positive is that the device does not need any kind of vacuum bag. It is simple to charge and empty and runs inexpensively.

I was using a dyson portable hoover and still do but it is getting old and is quite temperamental. This product works straight out the box with clear instructions and a partial charge. The build of the unit and the charging station is robust and the unit itself is very light (my 3 year old son had no trouble in using it to hoover up leaves). I am not sure how long the battery life is as i put it on charge as soon as i finished using it. But it picks up visable dirt and rubbish well and the chamber is easy to empty. All in all a great alternative to a dyson at a much cheaper price.

Okay for an emergency spill cleaner, but very long charge and short battery life. The instructions are just a series of pictures which do take a bit of deciphering. The build quality of the cleaner is okay – it does feel a little bit palsticy, and there is no click when you attach the nozzle – but otherwise it is solid enough. Charging takes 12 to 16 hours. Which in this day and age is a long time, but as this is an emergency cleaner then i suppose this isn’t a problem. The charger is well designed, a long power cable and varying angles available depending upon where you want it placed. In use the cleaner is not too noisy. Suction is okay, but don’t expect it to match the performance of your normal cleaner or use it to clean your car. Again as this is designed to be an emergency cleaner then it is acceptable.

Decent suction but best left on a permanent charge. . When i first realized that the battery was only 4. 8v, i thought it was going to be useless. The suction is actually very good – it picked up spilt cat kibble quicker than my vacuum cleaner, which tends to scatter it rather than collect. It’s ideal for small jobs such as collecting debris under cushions of chairs and settees, dirt under a cat flap, car seats and floors, etc. There’s a choice of two nozzles – the elongated one for crevices and corners, and a flexible, shorter one for use on wet or damp surfaces. During the time i have used it – for small jobs taking between five and eight minutes – the battery hasn’t actually run out of power. As for its cleaning action, i was pleased with it. Now for the downside:the battery comes with some charge but it took around ten hours to charge fully.

When i got it, package and everything was ok , but checking instructions and facing 12-16 hours waiting for being charged did make me a bit down. I put it in charge but after 2 hours i decided to use but there was not much power in it, so i left it over night and next day it was showing being fully charged. Since i wanted to use it for every bit of home , then i felt disappointed a bit , as the moment i was enjoying using it ,ran out of battery. But then it occurred to me that since i anted to try every dust and corner i left so much in house for 2-3 days and expecting to hoover whole house with it , house filled with every dust. After that i started using it for bits here and there in house and i found it really great. Although running time is 8 min but it does the job. And i think for small houses or flats can be used as hoover. Very handy in kitchen specially after baking to getting collecting flour on floor and table. If you felt disappointed give it few days and then while you empty it,proof is inside its dustbin , you will find amount of dust and rubbish it has taken from corner of home you will love it.

I’ve given five stars not because this little vac competes in any way with “proper” vacuums but because it does its own small job utterly brilliantly. It is small, light, easily stored and – for its size – powerful enough to do what it is designed to do. It easily and swiftly picks up the kind of small everyday spillages, dried mud and work-top crumbs that occur in every kitchen, keeping the place cleaner and tidier and meaning a full clean up isn’t needed as frequently. We all know the feeling of trying to brush with the side of our hand, say, bits of cheese or cake from the worktop – the crumbs stick to the top, stick to your hands and leave a smear that then needs wiping. Step in the aeg rapido and all is sorted in a trice. It sucks powerfully enough, it sucks dry or wet materials and it can be emptied and cleaned very easily indeed. The little wheels on the base are a great little addition as they keep the suction head at just the right height from the surface and make the whole job easier to do.

Light and easy to use, but not that powerful. . Light and easy to use, and a pleasant blue design, it fits neatly into it’s charging base. The base can be attached to a wall. The body of the cleaner is made of a hard and seemingly rather brittle plastic. I am not sure to what extent this would be able to withstand an impact. The charger lead is a rather stiff thin cable and i don’t think this would be much able to withstand hard use. It is ok at picking up loose bits of fluff etc from the floor or table, but the suction doesn’t have much power. So handy for a quick clear up but do not expect much more than that. Two tools are supplied which are push fits into the nozzle. They are a crevice nozzle and a rubber tool for wet spillages.
