Dirt Devil Dash DRC006 9, Excellent device

It works like a charm, the only thing is its hard to get into corners , but a great ‘little thing’.

This is a nice looking (although it does look a lot like our loo brush) hand held cleaner. I remember the old dirt devil hand held which was a great little cleaner that did a brilliant job, i was hoping this would be of similar quality. It sits in its charging stand very securely and can be left continually charging so its ready for use. It has plenty of power, i wanted it for my van that has six seats, my little white jack russell comes every where with me and her white hair molts all over the seats, i even find it in the crevices of the front window, probably from when she is perched watching the world go by. This is where the cleaner lets its self down, the nozzle is in the centre of the head which is a round shape and is not possible to get in to any tight spaces, i can get anywhere near the crevices of the window, the dirt devil is crying our for a little attachment to slip on the end, it cleans my seats very well but i can get down the back of the seats, which is such a shame. Its now in our kitchen where it is very useful for picking up dry spillage etc. Great cleaner but the head lets it down, hopefully dirt devil will have an extra attachment to add with it, if i remember the old dirt devil did have an extra pack that you could buy fo.

Dirt Devil Dash DRC006 9.6-Volt Rechargeable Handheld Vacuum Cleaner

  • Powerful 9.6 V rechargeable battery for excellent performance
  • Decorative illuminated charging base unit
  • Impressive 15 minutes usage on full charge
  • Ideal for use in the kitchen picking up food crumbs
  • Easy to use.

Not ideal – might be better with a dustpan and brush. It works ok picking up crumbs on a hard surface, or even on a carpet, however it doesn’t work so well picking up bits of loose thread off a carpet. It is probably best suited in the kitchen. However, as other reviewers have commented it cannot reach into corners due to the shape of the nozzle, this is annoying as it would be handy to use for a quick tidy up, but you cannot use it in corners or under radiators etc. It takes 16 hours to charge and then that gives approx 15 minutes of use. This does not seem very energy efficient. I am not too happy at having to leave it charging on all the time just in case i might need it, but the likelihood is that if you don’t, when you do need it then it will not have power. Might be better with a dustpan and brushit is ideal for my car. I can clean it well with that, without having to drag my actual vacuum cleaner outside.Unfortunately what seems like a good idea is actually poorly executed.

I love this hand held vaccum cleaner. The fisrt thing that strikes you about this hand held vaccum cleaner is the craftsmanship. It is beautifully crafted, compact and does what it says. It best suited for use in the kitchen and other areas where you can pick up large particles, but not for corners as the nozzle is large and not flexible. It works well on the stairs just not small corners. It is has a base unit that charges it and the handheld device is cordless and rechargeable, which is a real advantage. I really love this, it is easy on the eyes and portable enough to move around.

16 hours charge for 15 mins use . This looks so cute 🙂 but for once the design doesn’t get in the way of the use. The three footed small alien is stable on your table 😉 and the glowing light doubles as a night light when you get up to let the dog out/attend the small child; although i’m not sure how eco friendly a constant glowing light is. According to the dirt devil website this is for the kitchen (they have one for the car, and various others for other jobs). This is reflected in the construction. Although the hole for sucking is oddly positioned for other jobs, it has such good suction that bits of flour and sugar froum around the worktop or floor get sucked in. I guess if it’s too heavy to get sucked in then it’s not supposed to go in?. But no problems with that here – although when i tried to clean my daughters play area of dried up playdough i then felt i needed the hole moved or another nozzle (but that’s not the designated use). I do get the feeling that dirt devil want 6 vacuums for 6 different jobs rather than one for every job with 6 different nozzles.

I hope this battery lasts longer. This is a replacement fo one that’s four years old on which the rechargable batterry no longer puts out enough.

It’s good for basic cleaning but a lack of interchangable nozzles hinders its potential. The glowing blue stand is very futuristic looking.

Not quite strong enough suction, and too white. This is a cool little gadget, a little handheld hoover. I got it hoping that i’d be able to use it to hoover my car, and as a substitute when all i needed was to hoover something small (to save me dragging the big vacuum cleaner out of the cupboard). Unfortunately, all it really is is an electric duster. 1) the suction just isn’t strong enough, and only gets smaller as the cavity fills up. So it doesn’t really work in any way as a vacuum substitue. 2) the cavity is quite small, so you need to empty it quite regularly. With those in mind, it doesn’t really work for the car (although it isn’t too bad). But it is good for using to hoover cobwebs off the window and from the corners of the room, and it is generally really easy to use. You can empty it easily, and you can charge it easily.

The very best thing about this vacuum is the blue light which encircles the charger which makes this seem like the duster employed in the tron universe to clean between the cracks on the race tracks or in the discus arena thingy. Having used a dust buster for years, i was still very impressed with this. The power of the suck is surprisingly strong and the grip a much more comfortable experience though i’d agree with some of the other reviewers that the nozzle is rather thick and won’t reach into tighter spaces.

For the money, it pops out of it’s box and looks really nice and bright. Not too big and not too small- it’s ideal for whizzing over drops of crumbs in the kitchen or dining areas. It’s rechargeable and could easily replace a car vacuum. But, and it’s a glaring omission or design flaw, the shape of the nozzle is too wide. You can’t vacuum into any nook and crannies. The comparison is, when i vacuum (on a very rare occasions) with a dyson uprightdyson dc24 multi floor ultra-lightweight dyson ball upright vacuum cleaner the sides of the room, stairs, chairs etc are left. I then use the little nozzle attachment and we are “dust and crumb free. “so overall if you have not got corners and crevices to attend to then this may be ideal. However, if like me you have stairs, corners, edges this may not be suitable.

Dirt devil have been around for a while now producing what i would consider run of the mill vacuum cleaners that do a somewhat average job at best and this is no different. With a space age look and feel to the cleaner the base lights up and the mid section also lights up when the vacuum is snuggly fitted to the base to charge. Although it looks interesting, to me this does not make sense as the lights do not switch off when the unit is fully charged and just wastes electricity (and with the current climate and financial situation aren’t companies supposed to try to find ways to cut electricity costs?). On trying the vacuum cleaner itself, i tried cleaning my living room floor and kitchen floor. In the living room (which is a thick carpeted area) it did not do well as it only picked up very loose dirt/rubbish. It did better in the kitchen but we have a very thin material called flotech and again only loose dust was collected. All in all although it looked modern with the neon lights it was quite impractical and it only collected very loose dirt successfully. If you are hoping to collect more than loose dirt i would strongly suggest looking elsewhere.

Does what it says on the box. I have wanted a hand held vacuum cleaner for a long time and this one does what it says on the box. It is easy to use and light to hold and lasts for fifteen minutes before it needs recharging. I have laminate floors throughout the house so i rarely need to use a full size vacuum cleaner but this is ideal for vacuuming the internal doormats and for picking up crumbs off the worktop when i’ve been cutting bread. It also lasts long enough to vacuum the car which many hand held cleaners do not. The cleaner can be left on charge all the time and the base lights up blue as does the rim round the middle of the cleaner when it is correctly docked. This is a useful device for all sorts of small cleaning jobs throughout the hose though the cleaning nozzle is quite large so it does not get into very small corners. Suction is good for the size of the cleaner though it does not do well with pet hairs stuck to fabric and i think it would not do well with pet hairs on carpet though i have not tested it in that situation. However many full size cleaners cannot deal with pet hairs.

High voltage ensures good suction. The illuminated lights look great at night. My kids love playing with it too which is great training and less work for me.
