Dyson DC59 Animal Handstick Upright Bagless Vacuum Cleaner : Good but not perfect
I was unwrapped by my new owner over a month ago now and i could tell that she wanted me the moment she saw me. After my first use, she was in love. Her old vacuum cleaner was dumped and was left in the cleaning cupboard to grow old and gather dust. Oh yes, she now had me in her life. Often people want more whereas i come with less. No cord to trip over, no out of reach places and, when it comes to cleaning out the car now, she has no excuses as i don’t need a constant electricity supply. Her indoors loves how i take about 3 hours to fully charge and then i can be used for 20 minutes.
A bit hard on carpeted floors. I am a very lazy person and don’t really care who knows. I like a neat environment, who doesn’t, right?. The problem is i hate having to drag my hoover out of storage, untangling it and all the shenanigans that accompany it. This hoover is the most convenient thing that could have been developed for lazy people like myself lol. Once it has been assembled, the most difficult part is over. Within 2 mins, the living room is already nice and clean but i do have to say that i find it a little bit hard on carpeted floors. It really makes me want to clean my surroundings every 12hours. I have forever been having mice problems (whole council flat is rigged with them) and this will really help in getting rid of crumbs on the floor which i used to just neglect. If you have the money and you hate hoovering like myself, this is a sound investment.
I really wanted a lightweight cordless hoover, the dyson dc59 fits the bill, there are lots of pros, it reaches areas other hoovers wouldn’t and gives a powerful clean. It comes with the necessary attachments, and a wall mounted charger is included. Its easy and small to store which i love. The cons, i can only fault it with one, but its a biggy. The battery does not last long enough to even quickly clean my very small 2 bed cottage. I think the price is way to high because of this, a second battery should be included as you would get with a cordless drill etc. Very disappointed with this. My house has to be cleaned in 2 stages. The battery takes a good 2 hrs to completely charge. Here are the specifications for the Dyson DC59 Animal Handstick Upright Bagless Vacuum Cleaner:

Sliced bread has nothing on this little beauty. Forget sliced bread – this is the mutts. We’ve had a few dysons now and currently have a dc41 (the one with the ball thing that’s meant to make steering easier). What a load of rubbish that is – it’s the most awkward and cumbersome thing to use. The wandering hose is unwieldy and the build quality is poor. Someone did tell me that dyson had moved manufacturing to somewhere new; well for ‘new’ i think they meant ‘cheap’. So, i was a bit apprehensive about the dc59 and at £350 ish, it’s far more than a punt. Well after about a week, i couldn’t be more pleased with it.
Powerful, reasonable battery life, lightweight. Excellent for doing the stairs and landing or for clearing up a spillage. You wouldn’t want to try to vacuum the entire house in one go, because 16 to 20 minutes isn’t sufficient for that. There is one major drawback. Every dyson seems to have a major drawback and with this vacuum cleaner, emptying out the dust is really difficult. If you empty it regularly before it gets too full, the lump of dust falls out quickly and easily. If you wait until it’s compacted you have to bang the battery side of the unit repeatedly against your wheely bin while the lumps of dust fall out bit by bit. The battery surely won’t take that sort of punishment indefinitely. A more minor problem – the filter falls out if you hold the unit upside down.
Reviews from purchasers :
- Light and effective
- Great vacuum for my flat
- Expected more for the price!
Well packaged and of good quality. Makes vacuuming an easy chore with no hassle.
Expected more for the price. When charged up does not really last long enough on full power for a device that is supposed to be so technologically advanced. Disappointing in general for a high priced product.
